Music Together Program
Music TogetherDr. Amanda Plummer will be offering Music Together classes at the Superior School of Dance beginning this fall. The mixed age class is one that children can attend from birth to age 5 with an adult. Music Together is not part of CCSA, but shares with Suzuki the philosophy that all children are musical and CCSA highly recommends the program. Registration can be done directly through Amanda who can be reached at 487-9426. CCSA Private instructors will have information about Music Together and registration forms available. About Amanda PlummerDr. Amanda Plummer began her singing career at the age of one, belting out family favorites in church. She is now the mother of two with a doctorate in elementary music education from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She has taught music in schools, privately, and to student teachers since about 1995. Locally, she has taught private lessons in voice, piano, and music theory. You may also have seen her singing or acting in the occasional Michigan Tech Visual and Performing Arts production. Amanda now offers Music Together® classes for young children and their caregivers. The mixed age class is one that children can attend from birth through age four with an adult. Each child participates at his or her own learning level and learning style by singing, moving, chanting, listening, watching, and exploring musical instruments. Grouping children of a variety of ages fosters natural, family-style learning. The class is structured so that a single caregiver may attend with several children, or a single child may attend with several caregivers. Amanda believes strongly that all children are inherently musical. We do not need to be world class performers to have meaningful and satisfying musical interactions with our children. There are many ways to be musical and we do ourselves a tremendous disservice when we forfeit all of our music-making to famous recording artists. Play with sound, play with your children, take creative risks, and don’t forget to have fun! Last updated: 09/15/09 |
