EARLY
REGISTRATION FOR FALL CLASSES
Registration materials for the fall 2005 term are now
available. By registering early, you can avoid the fall rush, and have a
better choice of lesson times. Your private instructor will have all the
materials. Registration materials will also be available on our website at
www.coppercountrysuzuki.org.
Many of you may know by now that Jubal Fulks will not be returning in
the fall. I hope you will join me in thanking him for the wonderful job he
has done this past year and wish him well in his future endeavors. We are
in the process of conducting a national search for a new Artistic Director
and hope to have the position filled in time for the fall quarter. We will
keep you updated as the search progresses. Jubal’s students should plan on
registering as usual and the new Artistic Director will contact you in the
fall.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
- Striding for Strings 8K race, 3K fun run and kids races will
take place on Saturday, May 28th at 10:00 a.m. We need parents to help
with the race and the hot dog sale afterward. I also need students to
play during the race. Please, please, please help out if you can. Fund
raisers such as this help us maintain our affordable fees and are a lot
of fun! Please consider taking part in the race or inviting other
runners/walkers to join. Your private instructor has registration forms
and sign up sheets available.
- FUN CARDS and Surveys - Thanks to everyone who has turned in
their Fun Card money and their surveys so far. Fun Card sales this year
have been extremely successful! A few of you still need to turn in the
surveys and money. If you have not sold all of your Fun Cards but think
you can sell them over the summer, please turn in the money you have
already received and just let us know that you will hold onto the
remainder of your cards. Also, don’t forget about the surveys. We want
your input!
- I have included a tentative fall schedule with this newsletter. It’s
not too early to mark your calendars. The annual parent meeting for
returning students will be on September 7th at 5:30 in the Houghton High
School library. It is very important that all parents of returning
students attend this meeting. Thanks!
- Finally, I would like to thank the many people who have helped make
our year a success: The CCSA Board, MTU Fine Arts including Milt Olson,
Karen Snyder and Crystal Verran, the Faculty and Staff of Houghton
Elementary and Houghton High School and the Faculty and Staff at EB
Holman and finally the MCACA for providing much needed financial
support. It is important to remember that we couldn’t provide the high
quality music education and services that we do without these
individuals!
- A Message from Board President Susan Dlutkowski Thank you to
everyone who participated in fundraising this year. Our efforts paid
off; to date, we have raised $1800 more than last year. Profits from the
Fun Card have already exceeded last year's total by $700. Also, we have
received over $1000 more in donations. We plan to interview for the
Artistic Director position this summer and will let you know, via email,
the time and date of the teaching demonstration/interview.
